It seems so crazy that this semester is already almost over and summer is starting! It was great to "meet" you guys and if I recognize any voices in the future, I'll acknowledge our acquaintance.  ðŸ˜€ðŸ˜€ðŸ˜€      My last 2 lessons were interrelated to each other. You guys are aware of one because I presented it in class. 1st grade writing, using the doctor analogy to use checklists to "check-up" and proofread partner's writing sample.  I also taught this lesson in class. It was fun and I learned a lot of things!      I really enjoyed the classroom I worked with this semester and I wish I was able to spend much more time with them. My cooperating teacher is super awesome and talented. I'd say MASTER level. She had those 1st grades hanging off the edge of their seats to her next direction. It very educational.     So my last lesson plan was a small group lesson that would focus on the struggling students that have a hard time consistently u...

Week 5

I was really not understanding DOK's until class on Monday. I think I was really able to grasp it after we practiced within our groups. I was definitely not doing anything like that for my first 4 lessons! So I'll be spending a lot more time trying to use those verbs in questions towards the students- not as objectives. Glad we went over that! So my lesson 5 will be titled Plant Probing. I'm not completely done with it yet but it will be for first grade. The students will compare and contrast plant and tree "stems" using a venn diagram. We will observe celery stalks, bark and small log, plant stems, and other plant material. There is a lot of vocabulary . We will organize and categorize what we can or can not eat. And then I want to incorporate technology into the lesson for independent practice but haven't finished yet. I'm open for ideas! My lesson 6 is titled. Communities. I have no yet started this lesson however I want to meet a civic's Socia...

Lessons 3 and 4

This week I wrote 2 lessons plans . 1  is titled: Blended Story-Map I was thinking of the younger 1st grade group at the beginning of the year. I will be drawing a lot of attention to blended sounds and digraphs. Reading the classic book I grew up with;    Frog and Toad Are Friends by Arnold Lobel. Reading this book together, I want to draw attention to every combination we come across. After reading the book, I'll partner buddy's based on their reading levels and have them read to each other and also write and combinations of blended sounds and digraphs they come across.  After coming back together, I want to start the second half of the lesson, and that is the story map. I would model and demonstrate how to use a story map by creating a large one together with the class. then I would encourage the students to write their own story-map by identifying the characters, setting, conflict and solution.  . After they are complete, we meet together and share ...
